Storm Chase 2009 (Storm chase images and reports)

June 5 - 9

Stock Photgraphy and Video

The 2009 storm chase season was one of the worst that I have ever experienced. The Great Plains were basically shut down for most of May. I eventually cancelled my usual storm chase trip. In early June, conditions improved as the jet stream shifted southward providing more upper level support and there was eventual moisture return. I could only take a few days off at the last minute. Unfortunately, I missed the June 5th Wyoming tornado by a couple of minutes. I did see some beautiful supercells during the short chase trip. I also was able to chase with some friends who I haven't seen on the Plains in a few years.
